ABILITIES:

Physicality: Toge is incredibly fit. While he is often overlooked due to peers having somewhat close to superhuman speed and athletic abilities, he can be surprisingly quick, agile and strong. Because his combat style remains mostly on his voice, Toge still has to be able to avoid getting hit and he does so. He trains daily, running to increase his stamina. His fighting style tends to be very gymnastics-like, making him very flexible. Whether he can still perform gymnastics feats has not been tested since he had his arm amputated during the Shibuya Incident.

Cursed Energy Manipulation: Toge has a high level of cursed energy that he manipulates and has optimized to use his cursed technique. He has far more energy than he could ever use, his physical limits always give out first. This is why Gojo believed he had immense untapped potential. Of the cursed energy that Toge uses, most likely 98% of it goes into his cursed speech, the rest are for slight boosts of protection, like guarding against a jump from a four story building, so he doesn't end up injured mid-combat due to dealing with the terrain.

Cursed Speech: A rare, inherited technique that Toge was born with that can never be turned off. Signified by the sigils on Toge's cheeks and tongue called the snake and fangs, cursed speech uses Toge's voice to execute his will. Incredibly difficult to guard against, anything that can hear Toge will be affected by his voice should they not take precautions in the split second to avoid hearing him. This makes Toge a very dangerous individual, both intentionally and not.

Most often used commands include: Explode, twist, get crushed, plummet, stop, don't move, sleep, return, run away, blast away. (All commands are one word commands - in Japanese)

When Toge says those words - what he desires manifests. To do this, he uses his cursed energy to cause what he's saying to happen, whether that's exerting control over another person or setting curses aflame. He has a massive radius of 'anyone who can hear him', although he can direct it to particular targets. This technique still works through the phone/a bullhorn which only increases his range. It's incredibly difficult to use, but Toge is an expert.

The drawbacks to this technique act as a self-regulator. Continual use of the technique will damage his vocal cords. The more harsh the command, the more damage he does to himself. The stronger the target, grade-wise, the more energy he has to exert and the bigger the backlash. Pushing past his limits mean snapping his vocal cords completely, leading to a very bloody mess.

The only other method of regulation that Toge has because he cannot stop his technique, nor can he stop leaking cursed energy with everything he says, is to speak in his own coded language that he came up with. He doubles this by muffling his voice with his collar, scarf or mask and remains mostly soft spoken. His language is a series of approximately ten onigiri ingredients - all single words - that he uses to get his point across. Simple words or sounds could accidentally influence others and he does his best to avoid that.

Gestures/Expressions/Tone: Toge will sometimes mime gestures, use facial expressions or do things like tap surfaces to get attention because he is mostly non-verbal. He relies on subtleties in tone to get the nuances of his cipher. It is said to take roughly a full six months to understand all of it, however when doing so, single words can become full sentences.

VICES:

Self-sacrificial: Toge has a problem of pushing himself to the limit and not stopping, especially in service of protecting those people he cares about. He cares about his classmates the most, and then the extended general public. He doesn't really place a high value on his own life, mainly due to his upbringing, but it's something he's generally internalized. He will hurt himself to protect others.

Troll Personality: While it is likely this started when he went to school, thanks to Gojo, Toge has developed a penchant for being a bit of a trickster. It can be annoying when he gets it in his head that he wants to tease someone. It can be something as simple as speaking nonsense to them, or as complicated as swiping Maki's skirt for a prank. Toge does not do things that are genuinely harmful to those he cares about, and he owns up to it pretty quickly.

Skewed Morality/Emotions: Toge is the product of the clan system. He has been raised in an environment where he has been seen as lesser than those around him, something that he has internalized. He expects mistreatment and derision, and is expected not to have an opinion about that. Outside of this, he's expected to deal with the fact that people around him will die or get hurt, leading to a rather impassive outlook to the demise of others. He cares, but it seems like an inevitable part of his job, and to that end he doesn't dwell on it. He understands the need for sacrifice, whether it's innocent people, sorcerers or himself. Unlike someone from outside, like Yuta or Yuji, this can come across as cold or uncaring when ultimately Toge sees it as pragmatic. None of this is supposed to affect him, he's meant to carry on as usual when something big happens, such as losing his arm, without respite.


VIRTUES:

Compassion: A complete oxymoron to the above, while he does have a broken outlook on life, death and injury, he is very compassionate to his classmates. He doesn't have strong feelings towards the innocents they're meant to be protecting, but when it comes to his friends he cares deeply about them. Toge is a bit of a caretaker. He's the one who handles the garden, pouring kindness and time into tending the plants. He also cooks for his classmates, sharing his love of food with them. He also demonstrates a deep sense of empathy and concern towards Yuta for what he'd been through, which is not unlike Toge who curses people accidentally if he doesn't self-regulate. Accidents happen, and he understands this more than most would.

Good Attitude/Humour: Despite the fact that Toge comes across as intimidating because silence makes people uncomfortable, he's actually a very cheerful person in general. Although he's faced a lot of adversity, he seems genuinely happy with any attention he gets, glad he has friends and is generally very upbeat, which doesn't match his silent, aloof look at all. It's much easier to forget the circumstances he finds himself in too, when he's just joking around with everyone.

Brave & Dutiful: What is being asked of Toge is a lot. Unlike his classmates who got a gentle introduction to sorcerer life, Toge had to hit the ground running and to that end he's probably the most battle hardened of the group. He's expected to run into any situation and handle it - and does. Even when he's outclassed, there is no hesitation that he feels he should take care of it. He trusts those around him to help and do their job too. He's consistently thrown into difficult situations alone due both to his abilities and a lack of care from those in charge what the outcome is and Toge faces everything down with a devotion to his work.

Seeing other people cry makes Toge uncomfortable. They're not expected to deal with those kinds of emotions, they're supposed to push them down and carry on and that's what he does. He wouldn't really know what to do if someone cried all over him.

Not necessarily the tactician of the group, it's less that he plans ahead but can come up with back up plans to back up plans on the fly, thanks to his excellent curse sense and battle experience.

Calm is the name of the game for Toge - mostly due to the fact that emotional reactions lead to discharges of his cursed technique, so he's very careful about any noise he might make. He's also got a good head on his shoulders and can be very clever when it comes down to it.

No, he's dead inside. He has affection for people - but he's not sentimental.

Although he's not expressly a tactician, he's expected to keep his wits about him and he's very experienced in that particular area. He's been working as a sorcerer for a year and a half and has moved his way up through the ranks with his skills.

Toge tends to be one of the most stable people, waiting and watching for what will happen. He's friends with someone like this, so they can't both be like that. He leaves that up to Yuta.

Toge likes watching people in general, but honestly there's a bit of a guilty pleasure in watching people bicker and argue when he can't be drawn into it. Even better if he caused it with one of his shenanigans.

Toge is mostly not outgoing because he doesn't get the chance to be. He has the potential to be, he's a bit of a cheerful guy, but due to his incapacity for speech he tends to try and avoid conversations. He's happy enough to let people talk around him - but he loves to be included. In the general public space he's also meant to keep out of people's attention, which helps reinforce this.

When it comes to his studies, Toge is a serial procrastinator. He is, however, a consummate professional when it comes to work. However he really would like to put things off as much as he can. He's...a very average student. The physical education grade is doing a bit of heavy lifting in that area.

Toge doesn't have a lot of experience with the world outside the clan and sorcerer system and he would find it highly strange and foreign to him to be confronted with normal things. He has some normalcy, thanks to Gojo's meddling, but other than that it's mostly things he learned online.

When it comes to jujutsu techniques or sorcerer work, Toge can be very serious and pay attention to those. When things get too theoretical about anything he's not familiar with, he's more likely to tune it out. Even planning, he's more the type to want the conclusion given to him rather than having the discussion. He often doesn't have much input.

Toge's always had some level of insecurity, thanks to his cursed speech making him relatively mute for the most part, but since his experience in Shibuya and losing an arm, he's doubly so. He's barely recovered and he's back out in the field, he's not sure he's going to be able to perform at the level he used to, and he's not comfortable in his own skin. Not yet.

It's heavily implied that Toge, like Yuta, had made mistakes in his youth with his cursed speech, cursing people accidentally. He takes every incident to heart. It drives his desire to have as much control over it as possible.

SUIT REQUESTS: Hearts could be a fun one, because Toge tends to be very self-regulated over his emotions, and having that challenged could be fun. Diamonds is also an excellent choice, because that body/action aspect is something he might be quite comfortable with. It should be noted I do not actually mind which suit he gets.
RANK REQUESTS: I'm of two minds on this one. Toge would prefer a low ranking card because he would prefer not to be noticed. I think playing around with the fact he's under such attention could be fun. Feel free to assign him anything you see fit.
